Color as expression
Expressionism paints feelings instead of objects: colors are heightened, shapes distorted, outlines forceful, and everything pushes forward. Expressionist paintings for sale between 2,000 and 5,000 euro are usually sought for pictures that trigger something at once.
A sky may be red, a face green, if the feeling demands it. Complementary colors clash hard, outlines are traced in dark. The picture does not show how something looks but how it feels. A strong brush fits that, one with the courage to distort and to draw outlines against reality.

Keep in mind when hanging
Expressive pictures dominate rooms quickly. A large room, a calm wall and some distance let them come into their own. In small rooms, a medium format is enough to set the mood. The clearer a picture is in its statement, the less additional decoration the room needs.
