An unvarnished hand
Acrylic and expressionism belong together when color has to react fast, and the ground may be canvas but also wood or paper. Expressionist acrylic paintings for sale in the 2,000 to 5,000 euro range call for attention to the support and the edge finishing.
In expressive pictures the brush stays visible. Bristles leave grooves, paint is dragged crosswise, edges are rough. Working in acrylic, the painter can fix this gesture on the spot and heighten it with further layers. You feel this especially on wood: the brush barely rebounds, and every movement is recorded harder.

Supports change the tone
On wood the same paint looks harder and smoother, on paper softer, on canvas elastic. Check how the support was prepared and whether it is free of warping, especially in large formats.
Making it count in the room
Expressive acrylic pictures carry on long walls, above stairs or in high rooms. Place single works deliberately and leave free space so the contrasts can breathe. Ask whether the back is sealed, since that protects wood and board from moisture and warping.
