Color as expression
Excitement turns into color in Expressionism, large, angular and rich in contrast. You can find expressionist oil paintings from 2,000 to 5,000 euro for sale here, with coloring that shows attitude at once.
In Expressionism inner truth counts more than likeness. Faces turn angular, landscapes glow, skies swing. At large sizes this exaggeration gains weight, because the paint asserts its area. Oil supports that with luminosity.

Effect in the house
A large expressionist picture tolerates little competition. Hang it where there is room for excitement: stairwell, living room wall, foyer. Quiet furniture gives the color a counterweight. Side daylight makes the contours speak.
Certainty when buying
Ask about signature, date, certificate and dimensions. Inquire about varnish and packaging, especially with large canvases. A good description explains the painting technique and names the support. If you are unsure how strongly the colors will read in your own room, hold a sample of your wall paint beside a photo of the picture.
