Dream logic
Surreal painting shifts the familiar: a wardrobe floats, a clock melts, an animal casts shadows that do not belong to it. Surrealist paintings for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro suit those who want pictures that open up only after the second look.
Surrealism paints what has no place in waking life: transformations, displacements, scales that tip. The technique is often astonishingly clear and exact so that the impossible looks believable. The more realistically a detail is painted, the stronger the break beside it.

Conversation material in the room
Surreal pictures raise questions and therefore fit rooms where people gather. A spot opposite the sofa or beside the dining table gives the picture an audience. Too much decor distracts; a calm wall tone lets the scene work.
Means and material
Many surrealists paint in oil on canvas or acrylic on canvas, some prime with gesso for especially smooth surfaces. Ask about the ground, varnish, and dimensions, since fine painting needs a stable surface.
