The long layer
Oil lets dream images look soft and exact at once, with transitions that hardly reveal an edge. Surrealist oil on canvas paintings for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro suit those who like depth and riddles.
Surreal oil painting often follows the old technique: thin glazes built up layer by layer. Clouds, skin, and fabrics gain a gentle luminosity that makes a scene plausible even though it is impossible. Step close and you discover tiny details.

Mood in the room
Dark, deep tones suit rooms with subdued light, such as a library or bedroom. A picture with a wide landscape and small figures also opens up a small wall. Choose a frame in muted wood or black that does not double the scene.
Time and varnish
Ask about the degree of drying, varnish, and the age of the picture. Oil in thin glazes hardly yellows, and with good care the gloss lasts. Remove dust dry and soft, and keep the picture away from damp and sun.
