Traces of the gesture
Gestural painting shows the movement of the arm: you can see where the brush landed and where a knife was drawn across. If you want expressive oil paintings for sale, you will find pictures that convey energy through traces rather than motifs, such as oil on canvas.
Oil paint takes in every movement and freezes it. Fast strokes remain as ridges, wet areas blur into soft veils. Look closely and you can almost retrace the painting process, from the first sweep to the last accent. Some works are almost monochrome, others colorful and flickering.

Presence in the room
Such pictures are loud but not pushy when they have enough wall around them. As a focal point above a sofa or at the end of a hallway they bring tempo into calm interiors. What they share is that the path of the hand remains visible.
Care and price pages
Heavy paint takes months to dry through, so ask about the date and varnish. Sorted by budget, try 500 to 1,000 euro or 1,000 to 2,000 euro.
