Reduction with substance
Modern painting breaks from depiction and asks about form, surface and color as subjects in their own right. If you want modern oil paintings for sale, you will find positions from tidy geometric to freely composed, among them oil on canvas.
In modern oil painting, what was left out often counts most. A few colors, clear zones and a deliberately placed edge are enough to make a picture hold. Oil paint stays open for a long time, so fields can be filled in richly and without brush marks if that is the intention.

Space and furniture
Modern pictures tolerate emptiness around them. A free wall, a low sideboard and side light are enough to bring a work out. Earthy palettes go with wooden furniture, cool colors with glass and metal.
Scale and budget
Mind the ratio of picture size to wall: a modern painting often only works fully at large scale. The price pages help sort works, for example 1,000 to 2,000 euro or under 500 euro.
