Dream logic with craft
Surrealist painting shows things that do not exist, but with the exactness of a photograph. If you want surrealist oil paintings for sale, you will find dream images made on oil on canvas, mixed media or another support.
The appeal lies in the contradiction: a motif is entirely impossible yet cleanly modeled. Oil paint helps, because it allows the finest transitions and smooth glazes. Shadow and light are correct, only the subject is not. Popular ideas include floating objects, shifted scales and spaces that open into themselves.

Conversation piece
