Paint as material
Expressive oil painting shows what paint can do as mass: it is pushed, pulled, scratched. If you want gestural oil paintings for sale, you will see surfaces as physical as a relief.
Oil can be applied in ridges that stay workable for weeks. That allows scratch marks, imprints and overlays that would freeze quickly in acrylic. The picture gets a skin that shifts as the light changes. Where two colors run into each other wet, mixed tones appear that cannot be planned.

Near and far
Gestural pictures work on two levels: as a composition from afar, as material from up close. Hang them where you can experience both, for example on a wall you walk toward. That makes each picture of this kind a one-off in the best sense: no gesture can be repeated exactly.

Thick layers are sensitive to knocks. Ask about drying time, varnish, and how the work will be packed.
