Transparency as a principle
Watercolor lives on water, light and the white paper that shines through every layer of paint. If you want watercolor paintings for sale, you will find sheets in the watercolor technique and in styles from impressionism to symbolism.
Water-based paint is see-through: the light paper stays part of the picture, and white is not painted but left open. Each glaze darkens the tone a little, and wet paint goes its own way. This produces a light, flowing effect that oil paint does not reach. No sheet resembles another, because water and pigment never run the same way twice.

Paper and light
Good watercolors sit on strong, acid-free paper, often cotton. Pigments react differently to light, which is why watercolors do not belong in full sun. UV-filtering glass in the frame helps.
Hanging and choosing
A mat gives the sheet air and keeps it off the glass. By budget you can narrow down on under 500 euro or 500 to 1,000 euro. Have the paper weight stated.
