Original artwork description

Artwork from Madame Butterfly collection, Painted on Operas Libretto.
Madame Butterfly, a tragic opera by Giacomo Puccini that tells the story of a Geisha named Cio-Cio-San and her lover, the American consul Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton. The opera explores themes of love, betrayal, and the impact of cultural exchange and imperialism. lt is set against the backdrop of Japans opening to the West and the challenges faced by its people during this period.

This particular artwork shows a moment of Cio longing for her beloved one to come back to her.
The artwork is a part of my Opera Collection and was shown at the Madame Butterfly Opera Exhibition in Bregenz, Austria.
