How rust becomes color
Rust on a painting is not damage, it is color: orange, brown and red-black that can never be mixed from a tube. Here you can find paintings with rust for sale, where iron and oxidation themselves have become the medium.
The artist brushes on paint with fine iron powder and lets it oxidize with an acid solution. The longer and damper, the stronger the tone. Stains, veins and crusts appear that nobody can plan exactly. This controlled chance makes each picture one of a kind in the literal sense: none repeats.

In the room: warmth and industry
Rust tones suit concrete, brick, leather and dark wood. They bring earthiness into cool rooms and have the strongest effect in lofts, offices or lobbies. A light wall color makes the rust red glow.
Clarify durability
