Casting and patina
Bronze is the metal of tradition and at the same time one of the liveliest casting materials there is. Bronze sculptures for sale come as hollow casts in an edition or as one-offs, from handy formats to room sized pieces.
In lost wax casting a wax model becomes a ceramic mold into which liquid bronze flows. Afterward the casting channels are cut off, edges cleaned and the surface patinated. Brown, green, black or golden: the color comes from chemistry and heat, not from paint.

Style and price
Modern bronzes reduce bodies to arcs, modern forms rely on clear planes, abstract pieces on swing and hollows. Small bronzes already appear at under 500 euro, the 500 to 1,000 euro band offers more choice, and from 2,000 to 5,000 euro formats and casting become more elaborate.
Authenticity and care
Serious bronzes carry a signature, a number and often the foundry’s mark. Ask about the edition size and a certificate. Occasional waxing protects the patina. More work in metal sits in the related category.
