Casting in a small edition
Bronze is the classic material of sculpture: heavy, dense, with a patina that goes on living for years. Bronze sculptures for sale at 500 to 1,000 euro suit those who appreciate casting and craft and are content with a smaller format.
At this price level bronzes are mostly small to medium-sized, often cast by the lost-wax process and in small editions. Figures, animals, heads and abstract forms are typical. Every piece is reworked: casting seams are removed, the surface is chased, the patina is created with acids and heat. Colors arise from golden brown to blackish green.

Learning to read authenticity
Look for signature, numbering and foundry mark, usually on the underside or the foot. Ask about edition size and weight, since bronze is unusually heavy. A soft cloth is enough for care, with a little wax if needed. If you look for metal in general, a suitable extension lies there. A small bronze keeps its form for years; the patina merely deepens.
