Baryta, cotton, fine art
With a photograph, paper is the place where light becomes image, and its fiber has a say. Anyone looking for photographs on paper for sale does best to compare surface, weight and white tone.
Baryta paper has a smooth, slightly shimmering layer and deep blacks. Cotton paper is soft and matte, with visible fiber. Fine art paper comes with fine or coarse texture. Each type changes how the same motif looks on the wall.

Hanging and framing
Paper works: it takes up moisture and gives it off again. A frame with space between glass and sheet and a backing of acid-free board protect it. Avoid kitchens and bathrooms with a lot of steam.
For orientation
Whether in color or classic along the classical style, ask for the paper name, weight and edition. The tiers 500 to 1,000 euro and 1,000 to 2,000 euro bring larger formats. If this is your first original on paper, bear in mind that the frame is often a good share of the total effort and should be planned early. A mat is no side issue either.
