Surface makes color
Color on paper has more body than color on a monitor: it lies in the fiber and catches light differently. Color photographs on paper are for sale, and a look at paper and tonal value is well worth it.
Smooth, semi-gloss paper makes colors radiate, matte cotton paper makes them calm and painterly. Baryta brings depth to dark tones. The same motif looks different on each of these papers, so you should know the paper type.

Checking the light in the room
Color prints react to room light. In a north-facing room they look cooler, in a west-facing one warm in the evening. Mentally hold a sheet at the spot where it will hang and watch the light there at two times of day.
Style and price
The range runs from classical color pictures to surreal scenes. Price-wise, sheets from 500 to 1,000 euro sit at medium formats, from 1,000 to 2,000 euro at large ones. Ask about edition and signature.
