A riddle with a careful hand
Surrealism takes the familiar and turns it upside down. Surreal oil paintings from 500 to 1,000 euro are for sale here, in which clouds stand in the room or figures lose their shadows.
The surreal convinces when the technique is believable. Oil allows soft gradients, convincing material presence and depth of focus, so even the impossible looks tangible. One detail that does not fit is enough to make a calm picture uncanny or funny.

Hanging with distance
A surreal work needs time before it opens up. Hang it where you spend time and look for long, such as a wall in a study or bedroom. Simple frames let the content speak.
Watching the details
Listings should include notes on dimensions, support and what is written on the back. Ask whether the picture came from sketches or freehand. For care a soft brush is enough, and cleaning agents do not belong near an oil painting. A dark ground under pale glazes often makes the unreal elements seem to float.
