Paint as movement
Gestural painting shows how a body speaks with paint. If you want expressive oil paintings from 500 to 1,000 euro for sale, you will meet bold strokes, broad knife passes and paint that rears up.
Here the brushstroke is the motif. Oil shows every movement: fast curves, jerky marks, spots where the paint sits almost sculpturally. Look closely and you can read the rhythm in which the picture came about.

A picture with presence
Expressive work needs wall space that can carry it. A white room with clean furniture lets the energy work, while dark walls damp it. Side light models the relief and casts shadows in the ridges of paint that make the picture sculptural.
Time and care
Thick layers of oil dry slowly, and ridges in particular are delicate. Ask about the age of the picture and whether it has been varnished yet. Transport it upright, with nothing touching the surface, and give it a place away from traffic.
