They Played Jazz That Day began while I was listening to jazz and imagining what the music might look like. The rhythm became flowers, the melody became colour, and the striped vase seemed to hold everything together.
Created with a palette knife, this original contemporary floral painting is filled with textured red, yellow, orange and blue marks. It is a colourful flower still life about joy, improvisation and those moments when music makes an ordinary day feel completely alive.
