Water and signs
Symbolist watercolor floats between dream and note: water, ink and fine brushstrokes form signs that change as you look. Here you can find symbolist watercolors for sale that are quiet and exact at once.
Watercolor is transparent, which makes symbols delicate. A figure can dissolve into the background, an object turn into color. With ink painters set lines that hold the picture without weighing it down.

Calm on the wall
Watercolors work especially well in small formats, for example in a row or beside a mirror. A wide mat gives air, light wood or white support the lightness. Avoid direct sunlight. A single sheet on a bare wall is often enough to hold a room’s attention.
What to watch for
Paper type, weight and mounting decide durability. Ask about UV-protective glass and acid-free board. The signature and any inscriptions on the back help identify the work later. Keep frame and mat away from moisture, since otherwise they draw ripples into the sheet.
