Fierce and translucent
Expressionist watercolor joins the vehemence of gesture with the transparency of paper: paint flows, edges tear, black sets signs. Here you can find expressionist watercolors for sale in which feeling and chance work together.
Watercolor looks light but can be strong when applied in many layers. Expressionists use dark tones and sudden changes so the sheet trembles. Water, pigment and movement work together.

Paper in the living space
Watercolors are smaller than canvas pictures but not quieter. In a frame with a mat they unfold a calm effect that contrasts with the force of the motif. Do not hang them in rooms with plenty of steam, such as bathroom or kitchen.
Hints for buyers
Ask about paper weight, format, signature and acid-free mounting. UV-protective glass helps against fading. With strong black passages it is worth asking about the paints used, because some change a little over time. A dust cover on the back keeps insects out.
