Transparent and free
Watercolor without a style label is light, translucent and surprisingly varied: landscape, figure, surface or play of color, anything can fit on the same sheet. Here you can find watercolors for sale that do not commit to one direction.
Watercolor forgives little, which is why the sheets often feel concentrated. The paper shines through the paint, edges dry into fine lines. Painters use that without binding themselves to a program.

Hanging under glass
Watercolors need light but no direct sunlight. A mat of acid-free board and glass with UV protection preserve the colors. A light frame lets the sheet float, a dark one gives contrast.
Hints for choosing
Look at paper type and weight, format and signature. If the sheet ripples, that points to too much water or missing tension, which good works have dealt with. Ask whether the sheet is mounted. An honest note on the light sensitivity of the colors belongs in every good description, along with the paper type and whether the sheet was stretched before painting.
