Scale and material
Large rust works demand courage from the artist, because oxidation can only be steered to a limited extent. In the 2,000 to 5,000 euro segment you can find paintings with rust for sale that are conceived as room-filling pieces.
On a large surface rust shows what it can do: horizons of orange, rivulets in black, crusts that break the light. In this price class you often meet big panels, metal supports or multi-part works behind which stand many weeks of process.

One picture as the center
A piece this large needs a free wall. Hang it over a sofa or in a hall where an industrial character is welcome. Dimmed light that skims the surface reveals reliefs and edges.
Security when buying
With size and weight, the hanging system counts. Check that the description states dimensions, support type and sealing, and compare with abstract rust pictures. Large rust pictures change with distance: from afar you see horizons, up close grain and veins. When choosing, imagine where you will look at the piece from both distances.
