Matter and vision
Surreal painting in mixed media uses material as an ingredient of the dream: sand for the desert, paper for clouds, wire as a floating line. Looking at surreal mixed-media paintings on an acrylic base for sale opens the view onto pictures you almost want to touch.
Where acrylic alone carries the illusion, mixed media adds a tangible detail. Fine sand in the paint, a laid-on paper, a wax layer: the real reinforces the unreal, because it shows how carefully the vision was built.

Understanding the layer build
The more materials, the more important the notes on the build. A description should name what lies on the support and whether a varnish was applied. That way you can judge how delicate the picture is and what care it will need.
Room for the special
Pictures with relief and surprise need a place where they are not brushed or touched. A wall away from passages and doors suits well. Raking light creates a play of shadows that brings added depth.
