Wet in wet, dab by dab
Because oil stays soft for so long, impressionist tones blend into one another so easily. Impressionist oil on canvas paintings for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro are best viewed in natural light.
Impressionist oil is often made in one go: painters set color next to color while the ground is still wet. Tones mingle at the edges, producing the soft veils that bring water, gardens, and sky to life. Thick paint remains as relief.

Frame and light
Oil pictures of this kind like warm, diffuse light. A classic wooden frame with a gold tone underlines the warmth, while a plain strip in white or black makes it a contemporary picture. Hang it where you look at it for long stretches, such as the dining area.
Time and care
Thick oil paint takes a long time to cure. Ask about the age and varnish of the picture. Remove dust with a soft brush and keep cleaning products away. Direct sun and heating air do the picture no good.
