Oil as a material of light
Impressionist oil painting at large scale is among the oldest and at the same time liveliest varieties of the painting: paint that recreates light without describing it. Impressionist oil paintings on canvas for sale above 10,000 euro are best chosen with attention to brushwork, condition and documentation.
Oil stays wet for long, so colors on the canvas interlock. Violet in the shadow, gold in the light, a hint of green between: the mixing takes place in the picture. The brush stroke stays visible as rhythm and gives the surface breath.

Attitude and hanging
Very large oil pictures weigh a lot. Check wall thickness and fixing, ideally with professionals. Framed, the picture looks closed; unframed with a floater, more modern. Good light comes from the side or from above.
Condition and papers
Request a condition report, a note on varnish, a photo of the signature and a certificate. For transport and insurance an art shipper is recommended, so canvas, frame and surface arrive safely. A good frame in wood or with gold leaf often belongs to the overall effect at this price band.
