Light that builds up
Classical painting reaches its greatest depth in oil on canvas. Classical oil on canvas paintings for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro suit those who enjoy studying glazes, light, and skin up close.
In classical oil, light arises through thin, transparent layers over a pale ground. Skin glows from within, velvet has depth, metal flashes in single highlights. The more glazes, the calmer and richer the surface. The result recalls old paintings without being old.

Hanging like a museum
Classical oil pictures profit from directed but soft light. A picture light or a wall washer from above brings plasticity if it does not glare. Hang the picture so the center sits at eye level and the frame does not end under the ceiling.
Condition and durability
Ask about varnish, age, and any restoration. Varnish brings depth and protects, and it can be renewed. Keep the picture away from swinging humidity, and remove dust only dry. On the back, quality shows in a clean stretcher.
