Color that layers
In an abstract oil painting, each layer of color gains its own depth, because oil stays soft long enough for tones to work into one another. Abstract oil on canvas paintings for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro deserve a look from near and from far.
Oil paint allows working wet into wet and later going over it with drier paint. This yields transitions that faster-drying paints hardly reach. On the canvas, edges, veils, and small islands of saturated pigment appear side by side.

Reading far and near
Good abstract oils hold two views: the one from afar at the overall composition and the one up close at the skin of paint. Hang them where both distances are possible, say in an open living space with a long line of sight.
Time for drying
Oil takes long to dry fully. Ask about the time of creation and varnish, and check that the canvas is evenly tensioned. Stretchers with keys can be re-tightened, which is an advantage for large formats.
