Layer by layer
Oil on canvas gives abstract painting depth: color fields gain a body, transitions shimmer. Abstract oil paintings on canvas between 500 and 1,000 euro for sale are a good match if you appreciate layers and luminosity.
Abstract oil paintings often take weeks to make. Thin glazes over dark grounds make colors glow from within, palette knife strokes set edges and reliefs. As a result the view changes considerably with position and light.

Weight and presence
A larger oil painting on stretcher bars has weight and needs a sturdy wall mount. In return it carries in big rooms and holds its own beside furniture with character. Warm light from the side brings out the surfaces.
Condition and care
Ask about drying time, varnish, and packing. Oil paint is shipped with space between surface and packaging so nothing sticks. A signature and a note on year and size are customary at this price level.
