Material as the subject
In abstract mixed-media painting, materials negotiate with each other: charcoal rubs against acrylic, paper lies under paint, a palette knife drags traces. Abstract mixed-media works for sale in the 1,000 to 2,000 euro range often come in large formats with lots of texture.
Here the surface itself becomes the motif. Structure paste, glued scraps, graphite lines, and veils of color make up a build that is hard to describe but easy to feel. Step closer and you find found pieces and overpainting that reveal time inside the picture.

Light draws out relief
The more three-dimensional the surface, the more important the light. Side daylight or a wall washer from the side picks out edges and shadows, while frontal light flattens everything. A frame set off from the surface protects relief areas.
Questioning durability
Different materials age differently. Ask about the build, adhesives, and fixing of loose pigments, and about whether the surface rubs off. With paper elements a frame with glass makes sense; with thick relief, an open hanging is better.
