What rust does in painting
Painting and rust meet where an artist puts color onto a surface that already tells a history. Here you can find rust paintings for sale that join classic brushwork with iron, water and time.
It does not replace paint, it widens the palette with tones no manufacturer supplies: oxide red with greenish rims, black-brown with a trace of blue. The artist paints over it, under it or between. With every picture the balance of gesture and chance shifts.

Effect on the wall
Rust paintings suit rooms that show material: exposed brick, floorboards, steel beams. But in bright apartments too they set warm contrasts. A place opposite a window lets the tones travel with the daylight.
