One binder, many handwritings
Acrylic paint is pigment in a synthetic resin binder that thins with water and dries to a flexible film. If you are looking at acrylic paintings for sale, you can choose anywhere between a delicate glaze and thickly built paint.
Thinned down, acrylic behaves like watercolor, and applied thickly it stands on the support like modeling paste. Because the paint dries so quickly, layers and overpainting happen in a single session. That explains the range, which stretches to bold, expressive and gestural work.

Color for bright rooms
Acrylic keeps its strength for years, because the binder darkens very little. That makes it a good companion in sunny apartments with plenty of daylight. Matte surfaces swallow reflections, so a picture stays readable even opposite a window.
Look closely at the support
Canvas, wood and paper each behave differently, so check what the listing says about the support. If you plan on 1,000 to 2,000 euro, you will often find larger formats with elaborate layering.
