Originals in this selection, Pastel, Expressive and gestural.
Color in motion
Pastel and gesture yield traces of color that look like dance: broad strokes, overdrawing, broken-up surfaces. Expressive, gestural pastel drawings for sale start at under 500 euro, for instance with pastel in strong tones.
The chalk is pulled with its broad side, rubbed with fingers and written over with its tip. That builds layers in which tones mix without vanishing into one another. Gestural pastels feel alive and physical, almost like dance on paper.

Courage for the wall
Strong colors tolerate white or gray walls and few other colors nearby. A plain frame with glass and a spacer keeps the energy in the picture. Do not hang the sheet in direct sun, or red and violet tones will fade.
Questions about the surface
Pastel on paper is delicate: ask about fixing, paper structure and mounting. A description should give dimensions, signature and, if known, the type of pastel. The back often reveals a good deal about storage.
