Pastel can become as smooth as porcelain once hundreds of hair-thin layers lie on top of one another. Photorealistic pastel drawings for sale bring color and accuracy to walls that want both, with prices roughly in the range of 1,000 to 2,000 euro.
Photorealist pastel work uses pastel pencils for detail and soft chalk for broad areas. On rough, often sanded paper a lot of pigment holds, so skin tones and fabrics gain a depth that colored pencil rarely reaches. An underdrawing in charcoal sometimes sets the structure.
