Chalk with swing
Gestural pastel is the colorful side of fast drawing: broad bands of chalk, strong tones, open edges. Expressive pastel drawings under 500 euro for sale bring warmth and force together.
Anyone working gesturally in pastel uses the broad side of the stick and pulls it across the paper. The color settles into the paper structure, catches on peaks and leaves valleys open. That gives areas with lively grain.

Colorful yet calm
Pastel stays matte and swallows light, so even strong colors do not turn shrill. The sheet fits beside natural wood, linen and leather and also copes with gray walls. A light frame keeps the color fresh.
Protection from abrasion
Without glass, pastel sheds. Choose a frame with a mat as spacer and keep the sheet out of drafts. Ask about fixing and paper tooth, especially with thickly applied color. Pastel on colored paper shows more luminosity than on white. Ask about it if you want warmth in the room: a tinted paper is like a silent partner in the picture.
