Varieties of abstraction
Abstraction in wood means the idea bends to the material and the other way round. You can browse abstract wood sculptures for sale in many varieties, from soft curves to geometric cuts.
Some sculptors follow the growth of the wood and let the form emerge from the trunk, others cut against the grain and assemble constructions from boards. In between lie swells, pierced pieces and stackings in which the layers stay visible.
