A material that lives
Wood has grain, warmth and a weight you feel in the hand. You can find wood sculptures for sale when you want art that smells of material and may change with the years.
Every wood behaves differently: oak is hard and straight, linden soft and fine to carve, walnut dark and lively in its figure. Cracks, knots and growth rings are part of the form. Good sculptors steer them rather than hide them.

Placing and caring
Wood likes an even room climate, not too dry, not too damp, no heating air directly on the object. A little wax or oil once a year keeps the surface supple. Choose spots away from fireplaces and avoid constant sun, which bleaches the wood.
