Glass fiber, resin, lacquer
Fiberglass lets sculptors think big without the work weighing a ton. Anyone interested in fiberglass sculptures for sale will meet smooth, lacquered forms that feel light like body panels and yet read as sculpture.
Fiberglass, also known as GRP, is made from glass fiber mats and synthetic resin laid into a mold. The result is a hollow, stiff body that is remarkably light. Its surface is filled, sanded and lacquered, often with automotive paint in colors few stones can show. That makes curves, points and thin overhangs possible.

Lightweight with presence
Large forms can be set up without lifting gear. Fiberglass handles light and weather better than rubber, but scratches in the lacquer need touching up. If you plan a work for outdoors, ask about UV protection and clear coat. To narrow things down, try mixed media, urban and pop and the 2,000 to 5,000 euro bracket. Repairing lacquer damage is usually easier than with stone, provided the color is documented.
