Sign instead of depiction
In symbolic photography an object stands for more than it is: a key, a shadow, a hand at the water. You can find symbolist ink photographs for sale if you like pictures that supply something to talk about.
The motifs are usually set calmly and quietly so the gaze can fix on a detail. Ink gives shadows depth and highlights delicacy, so small signs in the picture do not get lost.

A picture for conversation
Sheets like these work in places where people meet: the hallway, the dining room, by the stairs. Guests will ask about the motif, and the interpretation stays open.
Choice and price
If you look for color in symbolism, you will find it in color work. A smaller budget fits sheets from 500 to 1,000 euro. In the description, look for notes on how the picture came about and on the edition. If you plan to give the picture as a gift, ask for a short note on the idea behind it that the recipient can read. That way the gift comes with a story.
