Dream logic on paper
Surreal photography builds worlds that do not exist out of parts that do. You can find surrealist ink photographs for sale if you want a picture that asks questions rather than giving answers.
Typical are double exposures, floating objects and jumps in scale: a tiny door in a desert, a room in the sky. Ink turns such montages into something calm, almost handmade, because the pigments blend the seams between the parts of the picture softly.

Where a puzzling picture belongs
Surreal sheets suit rooms where you take your time: a study, a library, a bedroom. There the picture may work slowly. In a passageway, by contrast, the details easily get lost.
Notes for choosing
In the description, look for details on how it was made, the paper and the edition. With a larger budget, prints from 500 to 1,000 euro are worth a look too, and color montages show how far the dream world can reach into color. A quick look at the back often shows whether title, date and number were noted by the photographer. That helps if you later want to pass the sheet on or insure it.
