Color with meaning
A red thread, a golden cage, a blue bird: in symbolic photography, color itself can become the sign. You will do best looking for symbolist color ink photographs for sale when the choice of color tells a story.
Red stands for closeness or danger, blue for distance, gold for worth. Photographers use that on purpose. Ink keeps the colors nuanced, so a touch of green in the blue or brown in the red survives.

Leaving the reading to the room
Pictures like these change their effect with their surroundings. A red sign against a white wall reads differently than against dark wood. If possible, try several spots, and hang the sheet at eye level.
Good to ask
Ask for details on ink type, paper and lightfastness. Edition, number and signature belong in a good description too, along with notes on how the picture was made. A small tip: hold the picture once beside a piece of fabric in the room color to see whether the symbolic color holds in the space or gets lost. That saves rehanging later.
