Originals in this selection, Symbolism, Material Ink, 500 to 1,000 euro.
Motifs with a false bottom
Symbolic photography charges objects with meaning: a bird on a windowsill, an open door, an empty chair. You can find symbolist ink prints from 500 to 1,000 euro for sale if you love pictures you can read.
Here photographers work with signs: mirrors, water, staircases, hands. The ink print holds these motifs in fine gradations, so even a small detail in the shadow stays visible and carries meaning. Whoever looks closely finds a second layer.

Conversations on the wall
Sheets like these suit a hallway, stairwell or living room, where guests tend to linger. Choose an eye-level hanging so people can step up to the picture without craning their necks.
Ask about the idea
A good description names the motif and how it came about. Note the edition, the number and the signature, and ask about paper and ink so that the fine signs in the shadows remain legible for years. A short note from the photographer on the idea behind the picture helps if you give the sheet as a gift or want to explain it later.
