Brush, knife, hand
Painting in the general sense, non-representational and under 500 euro: that sounds like an entry level but can turn out surprisingly dense. Here you can find abstract paintings in this price band for sale in which color and surface play the lead.
Abstract painting knows many tools. Looking closely, you can tell from the traces whether a roller, a rag or a finger was used. On small formats this stands out particularly, since the gesture takes up nearly the whole surface. That makes every picture unmistakable.

For hanging and grouping
Small abstract works are ideal companions for furniture with history. Above an old secretary, next to a door or in the hallway they show how much color needs little room. Try out arrangements on the floor first.
What to look out for
On canvas, stretcher depth and edge treatment decide, on paper the mat. Read the dimensions in centimeters carefully and ask whether the work is signed.
