Acrylic on a free ground
Acrylic without further addition in the title usually means works on paper, board or wood, so beyond canvas. Here you can find abstract acrylic paintings for sale under 500 euro in which the choice of ground is part of the design.
Paper soaks up paint differently than wood, and cardboard creates other edges. Abstract artists use these differences on purpose. Sometimes the paint is thinned like watercolor, sometimes set as a thick paste. This range makes acrylic a versatile medium.

Frame and protection
Acrylic on paper hangs best behind glass with a mat, so the sheet stays flat. On wood or board a flat frame is often enough. The format decides how much room the picture needs on the wall.
Good to ask
Ask about the support and whether the paint is lightfast. For works on paper, a note about acid-free materials is worthwhile, so the sheet does not yellow. Careful artists name the support, the coating and the hanger. If these details are missing, a question is worthwhile, because under 500 euro small details are often what separates a picture from a craft project.
