Transparency as a principle
Watercolor works with water, light, and the white of the paper itself, and no stroke can truly be taken back. Watercolors without a set style are for sale in the 500 to 1,000 euro range for anyone who values lightness and transparency.
In a watercolor, brightness does not come from white paint but from paper left bare. Pigments flow into one another, dry with soft rims or hard edges, and leave a fine granulation. Every spot is a moment that cannot be reworked.

Light and glass
Watercolors are sensitive to light. They belong behind glass, ideally UV-filtering, and out of direct sun. A mat keeps the paper away from the glass and gives the work a calm border. Pale walls and soft daylight suit them best.
Check the paper
Look in the description for paper type and weight: good watercolor paper is acid-free and thick enough to hold water without buckling. Also ask whether the piece comes unframed or framed, and whether a mat is included.
