What makes oil special
Oil is more than a material, it is a whole way of painting, slow, layered and deep in tone. If you want oil paintings without a style assignment for sale, you will find works shaped only by color, light and motif.
The pigment is bound in an oil, usually linseed, and dries by taking up oxygen. That is why the paint stays workable for a long time and can be lifted off and reset. It gives pictures a depth that watercolor or acrylic hardly reach. Even in thin layers, oil keeps a slight glow that water-based paints lack.

Support and format
Oil is painted on canvas, wood, board or primed paper. Each support changes the impression: wood feels smooth and firm, canvas lively, board light and handy. A picture without a style label is easy to match with existing furniture and colors.
Everyday care
Dusting with a soft brush is enough. Avoid damp rooms and the vicinity of radiators. A varnish protects the surface and can be renewed by a conservator if needed.
