Feeling in many materials
Expressive mixed-media pictures combine the force of paint with drawing, collage, chalk or pigment and produce surfaces in which layers stay visible like scars. Expressionist mixed-media paintings for sale between 5,000 and 10,000 euro are best chosen by looking at material richness and cohesion.
Charcoal gives rough lines, oil stick greasy contour, acrylic opaque force, paper brittle planes. In expressive mixed techniques nothing is smoothed over; on the contrary, breaks and overpaintings strengthen the statement. The picture tells of its own making.

Large surfaces, much relief
On large formats, materials can be applied centimeters thick. That produces shadows and edges that change over the course of the day. Raking light brings depth, frontal light stresses color, and both deserve a test.
Securing durability
Ask about binders, about how foreign material is joined to the support and about protective measures such as varnish or glass. With heavier works, the hanging system, wall thickness and transport packing count. Especially with bulky formats, a wooden frame with distance to the surface is a proven solution.
