Material at large scale
Abstract mixed-media pictures join paint with textures, papers or drawing into surfaces that show themselves anew each time you step closer. Abstract mixed-media paintings for sale between 5,000 and 10,000 euro are best chosen by material quality and structure.
The larger the picture, the more the interplay of layers counts. Sand, plaster or paper form a relief over which paint and line find their own rhythm. That produces pictures that seem like maps or cross sections of rock. Looking closely, you find paper fibers, pigment grains or chalk traces that give the picture its own touch.

Light and shadow
Raking light brings depth, spots stress edges, diffuse light calms. Try different lighting before you hang, so the relief does not suffer under cast shadows. Hang such pictures where a viewer can pass by at an angle, so the relief changes.
Clarify durability
With heavy material application, the bond to the support is decisive. Ask about binders, weight and possible glass protection. A frame with spacing keeps relief and glass from touching.
