The gray that gleams
Graphite is more than a pencil stroke: applied as powder, stick or block, it forms velvety surfaces with a metallic shimmer. You can find paintings with graphite for sale here, in abstract handwriting and in combination with other materials.
Graphite is pure carbon in flake form. It can be rubbed, burnished and layered until the surface shimmers almost like steel. Depending on the angle, a graphite picture shifts between matte and glossy, something no other material produces so reliably.

Signposts
With mixed media graphite joins paper, paint or wax, while Abstract shows its free side. In the price field, 1,000 to 2,000 euro serves as orientation. With dark graphite areas, light plays the lead role, so wall washers help.
Care and protection
Graphite is soft and can rub off. Frame the work behind glass with a gap and touch it only at the edges. Ask about fixative or varnish and whether the surface is set to gloss or matte.
