Reduction with depth
Modern painting in oil works with reduction and weight: one field, one contrast, one material jutting in. You can find modern mixed media in oil paint for sale here if you have room for a single strong picture.
Oil lets tones flow quietly into one another, producing fields that seem to open backward. Additions such as paper or wax set markers that act like landmarks on the smooth surface. Typical are clear formats, a restrained palette and a surface that pays attention to reflections. Anyone viewing modern oil work sees how long a gradient was worked on and how natural it looks in the end.

Furnishing and hanging
Modern oil pictures go with exposed concrete, wood and linen fabrics. Do not hang the picture too close to other works, or it loses its calm. Warm light emphasizes the oil sheen.
